The new Netki Google Chrome browser extension simplifies the use of bitcoin wallets, helping to create neat wallet names instead of lengthy 32-character public addresses.
The extension is available for free download and allows users to assign simple names to their wallets, turning them into actual public wallet addresses. Thus, the anonymity is preserved and the process gets easier and faster.
Along with bitcoin, the extension supports a range of other digital currencies, including dogecoin, litecoin, Factom, Ether. It is compatible with many blockchain wallets and exchanges, such as Kraken, CEX.IO, Coinbase, Uphold and others.
Since the company has partnered with ChangeTip, the platform's users can get their wallet name for free, while others have to pay a tiny sum of $1.95 per year for having custom wallet names.
One of the main objectives of the new product, as declared by Netki, is enhancing the usability of blockchain – the problem believed to be of crucial importance for making cryptocurrencies more broadly accepted. The developer’s global aim is “to see a place where everyone can participate in the global economy and have real control over their own money.”
