21 Inc promised to turn every iron into a bitcoin miner. It will not only mine bitcoins but also run bitcoin applications. To help developers, 21 Inc published “a bitcoin library” for their computers.
At the moment the library is a set of Python modules that encompasses basic operations present in many bitcoin applications.
“This documentation will be kept in sync with each 21 Bitcoin Library update and is the first step towards a portable open source release,” says the company.
The current version of the library is accessible on 21 Inc website. It includes special modules that address the needs of blockchain apps, mining apps and crypto apps.
Besides other things, the library gives users of the 21 Inc computer the chance to create an app that performs “transaction creation, signing, verification, and broadcasting, including for multisig transactions.”
To use all these, bitcoin enthusiasts need to buy a 21 Inc computer, which costs around $400. The machine was released by the company in September. The device can operate as a standalone machine or be connected to any Mac, Windows or Linux computer. It includes a command line interface, Python 3 library and a 128 GB SD card loaded with a full copy of blockchain.
Before that 21 Inc had been reputed as “a secretive bitcoin company” which refused to share information about its upcoming projects with anybody except their investors and managed to raise more than $116 million in funding as early as last March.
