A military jeep has been repaired by a Ukrainian charitable foundation run by bitcoin volunteers to be donated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Another gift of the foundation is one hundred rifle cartridges for snipers.

Stanislav Pod’yachev and Ruslan Peresunko, representing the Dobro charitable foundation, handed over the jeep to the 299th Air Brigade, to celebrate Armed Forces Day, as reported by Ukrainian news sources Mykolayivska Pravda  and Prestupnosti.Net. All spare parts for the repair were acquired with bitcoins. The foundation also bought one hundred .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges for snipers.

According to Pod’yachev, it is not the first military car fixed by volunteers for the 299th Air Brigade. In the past the Dobro foundation also built a “killer house” military training complex in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, to prepare soldiers to fight within residential areas and public buildings. It is unclear, however, whether it was also financed with bitcoins.

In February 2015 there were reports that weapons, ammunition, and information were bought with bitcoins by both sides of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. In March the then head of Ukrainian State Security Service told he was going to block from circulation bitcoins used to finance Eastern Ukrainian separatists. According to one story, bitcoin is also used by people who have relatives in separatist-held areas to send them some support.
