Blockchain Technologies Corp., a software company and start-up accelerator working on the non-financial applications of the database with inviolable records, has announced its upcoming voting machine.
Tested by the Liberal Alliance in Denmark and the European Pirate Party, the machine is supposed to become a secure and transparent alternative to the voting machines currently used in the US, which are increasingly seen as “archaic and rundown.”
One of the main features of the machine is that instead of the “proprietary software that outsiders can’t inspect” it uses open source technology, so that “anyone who knows Python can look at every nook and cranny of the code.”
The machine is also said to be manipulation-proof, as the votes shall be first recorded using a disc, while the system is disconnected from the Internet. If the data on the disc differs, due to an error or manipulation, from the data contained on blockchain online, than these votes shall be recounted using paper ballots.
The idea has already been backed by the Global Election Services company, which provides elections software for private companies.
