The founder of “Bitcoin Cuba” Fernando Villar had received the first bitcoin transaction in Havana. This looks like the first bitcoin transaction in the history of Cuba.

According to Todo El Mundo Habla, young man used AirBitz bitcoin wallet to make the first transaction. His colleague Chris Groshong had started the transfer in San Diego, while Villar was travelling in Cuba.

He had received the transaction in Havana. According to Villar, this is the first bitcoin transaction in the history of the country.

Fernando Villar is the founder of “Bitcoin Cuba” group that aims to promote the bitcoin agenda in the country. Currently bitcoin is not legal in the country.

 Todo El Mundo Habla notes, bitcoin may become popular in the country with the widespread Internet.

“Remittances also could be replaced by this virtual currency, leaving the Castro regime without the juicy profit from more than $3 billion that Cubans send to their relatives in Cuba yearly.”

Earlier this year some Cuban organizations began to accept donations in bitcoin. Earlier this year, anarcho-capitalist organization that pretends to have the groups on the islands began gathering bitcoin donations to support the digital currency in Cuba.
