A global provider of travel internet technology Ypsilon.net has integrated bitcoin into its payment platform using BitPay API.

The company provides tools for booking air tickets, car rental, and hotels. Its main audience is located in Germany, with 80% of travel sites in the country using Ypsilon.net. Ypsilon has offices in Germany, Great Britain, and Poland.

One of Ypsilon's customers, Nurflug.de, has already activated bitcoin payments on their website. Nurflug.de is a German internet service for booking air travel.

“We look forward to working with Ypsilon to bring bitcoin payments to its users in Europe. Bitcoin has exciting opportunities in the travel industry, and this will be an important step in seeing those opportunities take off,” BitPay stated in their corporate blog.
Safety is one of the company's priorities

“The travel industry as a whole has been heavily targeted by credit card fraud and it is our responsibility as a leading IT solution provider to ensure the highest degree of payment security for the protection of our customer,” Ypsilon's CEO Hans Joachim Klenz said. Payment methods employed by Ypsilon include over 24 systems including UnionPay, Sofort and PayPal.

Travelers will get more opportunities to pay with the digital currency bitcoin in 2016. A new bitcoin platform Freemit will be launched this year enabling customers to send money abroad. The Freemit app is targeted at travelers who wish to move small amounts of money in local currencies between countries.
