German Tech Entrepreneurship Center is launching an award for innovative ideas aimed at blockchain startups and developers. The final ceremony will be held in Berlin on 7 April.

The award will include €20,000 Gold, €15,000 Silver, €10,000 Bronze and a €5,000 Community Prize. The competition is supported by GTEC’s founding partners RWE and Globumbus.
Applications are received until 31 March, reads the centre’s press release. Any blockchain innovative project may apply, regardless of the country or stage of development. Even innovative ideas that haven’t yet achieved any practical development are welcome.

There is no restriction on the field of research either. Anything is accepted, be it finance or any other direction in which blockchain can prove useful, for instance, energy.

“Through the GTEC Innovation Award, we’re looking forward to connecting with experts, startups and promising talent. For us, blockchain is a technology with the potential to strongly influence the future energy system,” said Thomas Birr, Senior Vice President at RWE AG.

Other spheres potentially interesting to the sponsors include smart contracts, insurance, international money transfer, forecasting, registration services, machine learning, artificial intelligence and many more.

All participants also have the chance to win exclusive membership in the GTEC Lab – a 12-month support program, providing free central Berlin office space, legal, tax and business consulting, business tools and direct access to GTEC’s international network of investors and advisors.

GTEC is a German innovation centre launched in 2015 and aimed at uniting technology entrepreneurship organisations, resources and expertise in one place.
