A partnership between two Czech start-ups, a country’s leading payment gateway GoPay.cz and BitcoinPay, aims to boost the propagation of the digital currency in the Middle European country.
GoPay.czis used by 2,000 merchants based in the Czech Republic. BitcoinPay is a start-up that offers bitcoin integration to 400 businesses. The new partnership between the two seeks to give more options both to buyers and sellers. A representative of GoPay.cz told Cointelegraph:
“We always try to add new payment methods to our payment gateway and that's the reason why we chose Bitcoin currency. We experience wider interest about this payment method, not just one particular segment of merchants. They prefer bigger comfort when realizing payments.”
However, Czech Redditor petrsobotka says that the things are “not that simple”:
“It isn't promoted enough to the merchants and it isn't enabled by default in the payment gateway so you have to contact support staff in case you want to accept Bitcoin. But still, a step in the right direction...”
Another Redditor, Bittburger, remarked that new integration does not offer any new advantage to the average consumer. According to him,
“We've grown past the stage of getting excited over merchants adding it as a payment option. Especially when it's clear there's zero infrastructure being built on the layer above that provides the products & services which would on-ramp consumers into the ecosystem.”
Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is considered to be one of the bitcoin hubs of Europe.
Quoine launched Quoine Pay platform to enable integrating bitcoin by more than 20,000 retailers in E-Context payment network. It is claimed that the service allows merchants to avoid being affected by the volatility.
A Florida-based online computer and consumer electronics store that has been accepting bitcoin since January 2014 says it was a “fantastic experience”.
