Monday saw the price of the digital currency breaking the year’s maximum. The rally continues second week in a row.
Bitcoin has gained more than $35 on Monday breaking through $360 mark at 20:35 GMT, according to CoinDesk Index. The digital currency thus set up a new record of the year, reaching the level of December 2014. At the press time the bitcoin price equals out to $357.
The rally was lead by Chinese exchanges with the price reaching nearly $367 at OkCoin.
In the meantime bitcoin has never exceeded $333 at BTC-e exchange.
Bitcoin price broke through the $300 barrier on Wednesday, 28 October, and reached $332 two days later.
According to bitcoinity.org the market share of three major Chinese exchanges surpasses 86%.
The rally might have been caused by the decision of the Chinese regulators to ease the benchmark rate. The measure was aimed at helping the market to recover, but instead triggered insecurity among brokers, some of whom might opt for bitcoin.
