Ukrainian authorities decided to create cyberpolice. The first target of the new law enforcement group may be UkroLeaks, a Ukrainian hacker group offering for sale email archives of Ukrainian politicians.

The price list compiled by UkroLeaks is indeed sensational. According to their site, they will sell the email correspondence of the leader of pro-presidential party Yuri Lutsenko (250 BTC), ex-Chief of Ukrainian Security Service Valentin Nalivaychenko (300 BTC), Economy Minister Aivaras Abromavichus (500 BTC) and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov (520 BTC). They claim the email archive of the Member of Parliament Irina Lutsenko has been already sold for 150 BTC. And there seems to be a lot more: UkroLeaks proposes cooperation with mass media and popular bloggers, telling it has enough data for everyone.

According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, a great part of this correspondence is falsified. “They would take original letters, add some sensations and try to sell it,” told the Interior Minister’s press-secretary.

To verify the claim, Ukrainian news outlet Vesti made an experiment. They found a hacker and asked him how much he would take for cracking emails, Facebook and Viber accounts of a well-known politician. The hacker asked for the service only 2000 Hryvnyas (87 USD) and told it would take him 10 to 12 hours to execute the order. To get the full email archive, customers should pay 600 Hryvnyas (26 USD) more and for additional 600 Hryvnyas they can get even the emails deleted by the user.

Special middlemen sites serve as escrow guaranteeing that neither the customer nor the client would cheat.

Ukrainian cyberpolice is expected to start working next week.
