“Gallery” mall and “Piterland” aquapark in Saint Petersburg, Russia, were evacuated this Sunday after the fake messages about planted bombs. Some hours before group of Bitcoin extortionists from Kharkov’, Ukraine demanded from the owners of aquapark and trade center $60000 in bitcoins to prevent "the attack".
Security officers led out customers and personnel from “Galereya” that is located on Ligovsky prospect, reports Neva Today. The evacuation began after city police received messages about the bombs planted in the different parts of the building.
Meanwhile police officers helped to lead people out of “Piterland” aquapark in the different district of the city. After the proper search specialists did not find bombs in the buildings and let the people in.
Neva Today reports that the group of hackers’ that call themselves “Dillinger team” is behind the attacks. The hackers demand from the administration of the buildings $60000 in bitcoin digital currency. According to the latest information, the extortionists are based in Kharkov, Ukraine.
City police is investigating the case.
This is not the first attack of Bitcoin extortionists against businesses in Saint Petersburg. This July “Bank Saint-Petersburg” decided not to pay 1,636 bitcoins to the hackers, who stole confidential information from the bank database. Police is investigating the case.According to the Fontanka newspaper, the hackers stole details of up to 300,000 bank accounts and threatened to publish the data on a special website.
This August the group of hackers acting under acronym “Shaltai-Boltai” (Humpty Dumpty) said that it is ready to sell the email archive of a Russian official for 400 bitcoins. The email archive may (or may not) belong to the head of Kingisepp district in Saint-Petersburg region Viktor Geshele.
